Permit granted for special event
The North Las Vegas City Council has granted a special events beer permit for the Western Heritage Festival and Cowboy Poetry Gathering next month.
The North Las Vegas Elks Lodge is sponsoring the booth Nov. 5-7 at the festival, to be held at the Cheyenne Sports Complex at the Community College of Southern Nevada.
Seventy percent of the proceeds will go toward the Friends of Kiel Ranch Historic Site Organization. The remaining portion will go toward local foundations.
Three members appointed to panel
The council has appointed three members to the Executive Steering Committee for the Southern Nevada Enterprise Community.
Randall Hempling, chief executive officer of Lake Mead Hospital, has agreed to serve as the representative for the redevelopment areas.
Hattie Canty has agreed to serve as the representative for the western area.
Bessie Braggs will serve as the community representative.
