Calico Basin road decision on hold
Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999 | 11:47 a.m.
A proposal to turn over a public road in the Calico Basin neighborhood of the Red Rocks National Conservation Area was delayed before consideration by the Clark County Commissioners on Wednesday.
Land owners Robert and Karen Sidell, citing chronic problems with people littering and disturbing the neighborhood tucked into the conservation area, were seeking to stop the public right-of-way. Robert Sidell said Wednesday that he asked the application before the commissioner's Zoning Board be held to provide more time to talk to interested parties.
"We're trying to work out a compromise that will give public access while still protecting the landowners," Sidell said. The private landowners in the Calico Basin aren't seeking to bar the public but need to protect their homes, he said.
The tentative date for reconsideration is Jan. 19, although Sidell said the issue could be held longer.
