Rebel golfers third in tournament

The fourth-ranked UNLV golf team shot an opening-round 283 and followed it up with a second-round 275 to sit in third place at the 12-team Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate at Birmingham, Ala.
The Rebels (283-275 -- 558) are one shot back of co-leaders Georgia (280-277 -- 557) and Clemson (284-273 -- 557). Houston (279-281 -- 560) and Arizona State (277-285 -- 562) round out the top five.
Individually, UNLV's Adam Scott (68-66 -- 134) shares the lead with Oklahoma State's Charles Howell (68-66 -- 134). The two are one shot ahead of Arizona State's Paul Casey (65-70 -- 135).
