Hillary plans fund-raiser in Henderson

First lady Hillary Clinton is scheduled to come to Las Vegas Nov. 4 for a $1,000-per-person reception at the Henderson home of Las Vegas Sun Editor Brian Greenspun.
The evening event is intended to raise funds for an exploratory committee's work to determine whether the first lady will run for the U.S. Senate in New York in 2000, Greenspun said.
The president is not expected to accompany Hillary to Las Vegas, said Greenspun, a friend of Bill Clinton since their days at Georgetown University.
"I do not know what Mrs. Clinton's other plans are when she comes here, and at this time I do not think she knows either," Greenspun said. "This is still two weeks out and they generally don't plan that far in advance.
"We are expecting a large crowd for the reception."
Greenspun has hosted similar fund-raisers for President Clinton at his home.
The Nov. 4 event, which will include cocktails, will be co-hosted by Greenspun's wife, Myra, Dr. Elias Ghanem and his wife, Jody.
The Clintons recently purchased a home in New York where they intend to move when the president's second term ends in January 2001 -- a move that also makes Hillary eligible to run for the Senate in that state.
Although she has not formally announced that she will run for the Senate, the first lady is considered an early strong contender for the seat of retiring Democratic lawmaker Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
