Three armed men robbed the Frank Melaerts Jewelers store, 443 S. Decatur Blvd., in a daring noontime heist Wednesday.
Police said the trio escaped with an undetermined amount of jewelry. No one was injured in the robbery.
Metro Police robbery detail Lt. John Alamshaw described the robbers as men in their 20s. One had a bandana around his face, another wore a dread-lock wig and one man had white socks on his hands, Alamshaw said.
The men entered the store around noon, locked the front door and held four employees captive while they rifled several jewelry cases.
Alamshaw said there were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.
The suspects spent several minutes in the store, Alamshaw said. They took keys from employees to unlock the sliding doors on the jewelry cases.
