Jan Jones hired by casino giant
Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999 | noon
Former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Laverty Jones today was named senior vice president of communications at casino giant Harrah's Entertainment Inc. of Las Vegas.
Jones will report to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Phil Satre, who said the position was newly created.
Jones, who served as mayor of Las Vegas for eight years and did not seek re-election in 1999, also waged two unsuccessful campaigns for governor.
Jones had formed J&B Strategic Alliance with Robert Forbuss, chairman of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce; and was a consultant and occasional reporter for KLAS TV. It was unclear whether she will continue as a consultant and whether she will continue to work with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, which had contracted her for community relations.
