Steven Desmond Burks
Steven Desmond Burks, 26, of Las Vegas died Oct. 25 in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 21, 1943, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a hotel porter.
He is survived by one son, Steven D. Burks Jr., his father, Steven C. Burks, three brothers, Darell C. Burks, Steven A. Burks and Stevion Burks, and three sisters, Cherelle Banks, Deonta Burks and Latosha Armstrong Burks, all of Las Vegas.
Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial was private.
Michael R. Koeth
Michael R. Koeth, 45, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. A resident for 12 years, He was born Dec. 22, 1953, in California.
He is survived by one son, Derrick Koeth, and one daughter, Dawn Mullen, both of Las Vegas.
Services were scheduled at 2 p.m. today in Sunrise Southern Baptist Church, 1780 Betty Lane. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Levi Leavitt
Levi Leavitt, 17, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born May 17, 1982, in Las Vegas. He was a student.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Cricket Cornish, and two brothers, Dustin Cornish and Cameron Cornish, all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Jessica Leavitt of Las Vegas, Cameo Cornish of Sacramento and Sara Leavitt; and his grandparents, Bud Peterson of Las Vegas, David and JoAnne Walter of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Ned Leavitt and Jacquelyn Lauridsen, both of Mesquite.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.
The family suggests donations to City Mission of Las Vegas, 1126 Fremont St., Las Vegas, NV 89125.
Victor Thomas McLaughlin
Victor Thomas McLaughlin, 75, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 17, 1924, in South Dakota. A resident for more than 20 years, he was a retired hard rock miner.
He is survived by three sisters, Monica Reichert of Dickinson, N.D., Joan McLaughlin Dawson of Wilmington, Calif., and Marcella Fanning of Martin, S.D.; and one brother, Virgil C. McLaughlin of Minneapolis.
Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.
Baby Girl Mohoi
Baby Girl Mohoi, died Sept. 25, her date of birth, in Las Vegas.
She is survived by her mother, Deborah Mohoi of Las Vegas.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Joseph R. Pacitto
Joseph R. Pacitto, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Utica, N.Y. A resident for one year, he was a city government commissioner of redevelopment and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Maryann; four sons, David Pacitto of Boyertown, Pa., Joel Pacitto of Naperville, Ill., Richard Pacitto of Carmel, Calif., and Joseph Santalucia of Las Vegas; one daughter, Allison Renwick of Hamilton, N.Y.; one sister, Clara Alberico of Virginia; and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will follow at noon Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
George P. Parresol
George P. Parresol, 79, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 20, 1919, in West Virginia. A resident for 10 years, he was a television serviceman and an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; one son, John Fredrick Parresol of Orange, Calif.; one daughter, Lynn David of Las Vegas; two brothers, Tom Parresol of Las Vegas and Paul Parresol of Southgate, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were scheduled at 2:15 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Herbert E. Sampson
Herbert E. Sampson, 57, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Worcester, Mass. A resident for eight years, he was a retired electrician.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene; one son, Herbert Sampson II of Port Orchard, Wash.; two daughters, Dorene Carroll and Marissa Carroll, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Ronald Sampson of Olympia, Wash.; two sisters, Deborah Sampson and Patricia Sampson, both of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and one grandchild.
Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Bernice J. Schaffer
Bernice J. Schaffer, 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born June 10, 1916, in Illinois. A resident for many years, she was a bank secretary.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Grittao of Las Vegas.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Illinois. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Helen Scott
Helen Scott, 89, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 11, 1910, in Lincoln, Neb. A resident for 30 years, she was a retired grocery store clerk.
She is survived by her husband, Ross; and one sister, Gertrude Barnhart of Twin Falls, Idaho.
Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Donald Wayne Selbe
Donald Wayne Selbe, 43, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born April 29, 1956, in Denver. A resident for 10 years, he was a salesman of building materials and an Army veteran.
He is survived by one son, Donald Wayne "Bubba" Selbe, and his significant other, JoAnn Sullivan, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Gweneth N. Selbe of Golden, Colo.; and five sisters, Tonya Schmidt, Susan Selbe and Joyce Selbe, all of Golden, and Deborah Howell and Janice Thomas, both of Wheatridge, Colo.
Services and burial will be in Golden. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
James A. Spruell
James A. Spruell, 78, of Indian Springs died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Poteau, Okla. A resident for 37 years, he was a painter at the Nevada Test Site and an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Anna; three daughters, Cleo Corby and Mary Hutchison, both of Las Vegas, and Sharon Spruell of Indian Springs; one son, James Spruell of Indian Springs; one sister, Emma Mae Adams of Arvin, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church of Indian Springs. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
