Las Vegas area fishing report

Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999 | 10:32 a.m.

LAKE MEAD: Fishing activity has diminished during the past two weeks as many anglers have turned their attention to big game and bird hunting. Even so, those who have been fishing continue to enjoy good success for striped bass and channel catfish.

Las Vegas Bay is producing stripers during the early-morning hours for boaters who are catching fish with surface plugs and by drifting anchovies. Hemenway Harbor has been equally productive for boaters and shore anglers.

LAKE MOHAVE: Striped bass fishing picked up late last week in the Cottonwood Cove area with a number of boaters catching limits in Arizona and Nevada bays. The better success is being found by trolling with whole anchovies.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Rainbow trout fishing has been good for fish that range from 15 to 20 inches at Cold Springs and Haymeadow reservoirs.
