Henderson recreation schedules workshop
The ancient Chinese system of reflexology will be explored in a three-hour workshop scheduled 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Lorna J. Kesterson Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris Street in Henderson.
Participation is $15. The workshop is sponsored by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department.
Reflexology is a nonmedicine based treatment of the body believed to be beneficial for all ages and energy levels. It deals with an in-depth pressure massage on the feet and hands. The main focus is on crucial impulse areas that can boost energy levels and keep participants feeling revitalized and refreshed.

School begins enrolling students at new facility
The Utah College of Massage Therapy, one of the nation's largest massage schools with over 3300 graduates, has begun enrolling students into its latest expansion project, the Nevada School of Massage Therapy in Las Vegas.
Classes are scheduled to begin Oct. 18 at the new facility located in the Eastwind Shopping Center at 2381 Windmill Lane, Suite 14. Call 456-4325.
Memory Walk set for Paseo Verde Park
The Alzheimer's Association of Southern Nevada will hold its annual Memory Walk at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Paseo Verde Park in Green Valley.
The Memory Walk offers a timed 5K run and a 1-mile walk. All money raised through the walk stays in Southern Nevada.

Children invited to classes in Henderson
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host four pumpkin painting events for children ages 3-5 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and for ages 6-12 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Black Mountain Recreation Center, 599 Greenway Road.
Events will take place at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway, 1-2 p.m. for children 3-5 years old, and from 2:30-3:30 p.m. for children 6-12 years of age. Participation is $3 per child.
The events are designed for children to create unique pumpkin masterpieces that can be displayed at home. Participants must bring an old shirt and a pumpkin to class.
Application deadline set for Friday
The next deadline for grant applications to the Nevada Humanities Committee is Friday. Matching grants ranging in size from $1,000 to $10,000 are available to any nonprofit groups or governmental agency in Nevada.
The Nevada Humanities Committee is an independent, nonprofit organization that works in partnership with local communities to develop and fund humanities programs for a broad public audience.
