Authorities believe two men sought in the robbery Monday of a Brinks armored car outside Mandalay Bay hotel-casino may be the same robbers who made off with armored car loot from the Desert Inn and MGM Grand hotel-casinos earlier this year.
Lt. John Alamshaw of Metro Police said witnesses' descriptions of the suspects have been similar in all three case and that in all the cases the robbers were believed to be wearing body armor. The weapons used in all three cases were similar as well.
In Monday's robbery two Hispanic men waited outside Mandalay Bay until Brinks security guards exited the armored car. The two men then robbed them of weapons, cash and checks, police said. Police would not say how much was stolen, but they said all the cash was in $50 bills.
Police are seeking one Hispanic man in his early 20s or late 30s, described as 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. The man was wearing a blue zippered jacket, blue jeans and a dark-colored baseball cap. He was armed with two semi-automatic handguns, police said
A second suspect was described as a Hispanic or light-skinned black man in his early 20s or late 30s, who is also 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 200 pounds or more.
He was also wearing a blue zippered jacket, blue jeans and a dark-colored baseball cap. He was armed with a snub-nosed revolver, police said.
The robbers fled the scene in a maroon colored Isuzu sport utility vehicle.
