Letter: Congress ought to try minimum wage for one year
Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999 | 9:18 a.m.
Members of Congress just increased their salaries and, yet again, increased their Social Security raise in January that they have received for 40 years or more.
Is there no way these people could look inside themselves and realize they do not need a raise ever again and other levels of our society are not so fortunate?
Please take yourselves off the increase for Social Security in January, or you could give yourselves the minimum wage for one year and learn first-hand how it is to live at the poverty level and below.
