Gaming newsletter to close

The Las Vegas Investment Report, an eight-year-old gaming industry newsletter, will cease operations at year's end.
Russ Roth, editor of the newsletter, said he's shutting down the report in order to focus on Las Vegas Gaming, a company specializing in the creation and marketing of new table games. Las Vegas Gaming has new keno and roulette games approved in Nevada and is now trying to land its first sales.
"(Las Vegas Gaming) has gotten to the point in its life where it requires much more of our time," Roth said. "We elected to give up the newsletter. It never made any money, so it was a labor of love."
LVIR was founded in 1991 by Dave Ehlers, now chairman of Las Vegas Investment Advisors. Roth took over the newsletter in 1994, and gave it a gaming industry focus, rather than a Las Vegas focus.
Its circulation peaked at about 500 around 1995, but has declined to 300 today.
