Letter: Let people decide if they should back the unions
Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999 | 10:41 a.m.
We moved to this area specifically for the opportunity to work in a free and competitive environment. We are strongly opposed to the new ordinance that represents an attack on the free enterprise system. We feel it is not the government's place to decide whether we should buy union or not.
Our understanding that this is the land of opportunity is being shot down by our government, and come election time many will show their disapproval of actions taken by some of the county commissioners to push through the "Wal-Mart Ordinance" by choosing not to re-elect those officials directly involved in passing it.
The potential for growth in Clark County is being jeopardized by the small-mindedness of some commissioners. Our government was designed for all the people, not just the few self-serving special interest groups who can afford to fund such projects.
