Donna Hernandez, 38, of Las Vegas, was found inside her Las Vegas home Wednesday after her ex-husband, Fernando Hernandez, made incriminating statements after being stopped for speeding near Searchlight. She had been strangled and stabbed numerous times.
Las Vegas police Lt. Wayne Petersen said Fernando Hernandez was arrested after being stopped for speeding. Inside his car was the couple's 3-year-old daughter.
Petersen said Donna Hernandez had obtained temporary and extended protective orders against her former husband through Clark County Family Court within the last year. She was a Family Court clerk.
However, Fernando Hernandez's only prior arrest was in March for disorderly conduct at his ex-wife's home in April, Petersen said.
