Southwest Gas rate decrease approved by PUC

The reduction approved by the state Public Utilities Commission means a 12 percent drop for residential customers in the Las Vegas area. For someone with a $50 gas bill, that means a cut to about $44.
In northern Nevada, residential customers will see a 6 percent drop. For someone with an $80 bill, that means a reduction of about $5.50.
In both cases, the utility says the decreases reflect a drop in the price of natural gas. The cuts take effect Nov. 1.
Southwest provides natural gas service to nearly 360,000 homes and businesses in southern Nevada, and to about 90,000 homes and businesses in northern Nevada.
