Letter: McDonald most visible councilman
Friday, Oct. 8, 1999 | 9:18 a.m.
Regarding the Sun's continuous derogatory articles, columns and letters to the editor on Las Vegas City Councilman Michael McDonald, I would like to make a statement as a resident of Las Vegas for 27 years.
Michael McDonald has been the most available and visible city councilman we have ever had.
Mr. McDonald has continually, since being elected, had area meetings with residents regarding the problems of the neighborhoods of his ward. I personally attended these local ward meetings where we brought up particular problems affecting our neighborhoods.
In our area, for instance, we had a heavy volume of traffic. Volunteers met as a group with staff to discuss alternatives to this issue.
Recently, in yet another article slamming Mr. McDonald, a resident was quoted as saying she never has been helped by the councilman.
Did you ever ask residents of Charleston Heights or other areas in town where our former councilman never addressed problems?
Let's be fair! Michael McDonald is the most visible city councilman this town has ever had; or at least the most visible in the last 27 years that I have been here!
Keep up the good work, Mike.
