Las Vegas is No. 6 in a new ranking of the "Best Cities for Small Business" by Dun & Bradstreet and Entrepreneur magazine.
In a ranking of the nation's large cities, Las Vegas trails West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, Fla.; Salt Lake City-Ogden; Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill; Atlanta and Orlando.
Las Vegas is ranked No. 1 in the category of most entrepreneurial activity because it has the highest percentage of young businesses.
"What makes these rankings unique is that we're measuring small business acitivity rather than merely looking at broad characteristics of the regions," D&B said. "Our data show high concentrations of young businesses in locations such as Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Orlando, combined with rapid employment growth among start-ups, pushing these cities into the top ten."
