Letter: City, county line causes confusion

Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 | 9:40 a.m.

I have been a resident since January 1951 so I know the confusion caused in extreme emergencies for residents living on this boundary line while patrolled by two police departments. Absolute chaos.

With the size and expenses of the Deputy City Marshals, Las Vegas already has a police department. The only way the existing protection agencies should be changed is by a vote of the taxpayers.

The council said over and over: two more wards were not needed. Now immediately after an election the wards are needed.

If the two city employees are appointed to these seats, and the representatives supported by the residents of the wards are ignored, it is an instant replay of the concessions at McCarran International Airport. You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.
