Lookin' for adventure? Or just some really cool hogs?

You'll most certainly find the latter at the World Bike Expo, being held Friday through Sunday at Sam Boyd Stadium.

This ode to all things related to motorcycles is open to the public and will feature manufacturers' exhibits of bikes, accessories and merchandise. Cycling clubs will be on hand, and seminars, stunt shows and rider courses will be presented. Among the local contributors is Extreme Cycle Works, which is loading up a massive trailer full of the custom and Confederate-brand cycles it sells at its shop on Polaris Avenue.

Cyclist Doug Danger, who landed in the "Guinness Book of World Records" for motorcycle ramp-to-ramp distance jumping, will attempt to break a record set by daredevil Robbie Knievel by soaring over 18 tractor-trailers. Danger's Honda motorcycle -- or what's left of it -- will be raffled off after the jump. Also scheduled to be given away to admission ticket-holders are four Ducati-brand motorcycles supplied by Titan of Las Vegas, on Sunset Road.

Taking a ride on the wild side will be the Globe of Death Fusion Riders, who whirl around in a giant steel cage at top speeds. Meanwhile the members of Team Extreme will tackle obstacle courses and perform "wheelstands" on their bikes over 20-foot vertical drops.

Representatives from the American Motorcyclists Association, the National Coalition of Motorcyclists and other cycling groups will chat with show-goers. Hosting seminars on a range of topics will be an eclectic group of speakers including: Sandy Valley resident Bo Gritz, a Green Beret during the Vietnam War and one-time presidential candidate; shortwave radio show host Jeffrey Bennett ("Perspectives on America"); and Jim Utterback of the State of Nevada Rider Motorcycle Safety Program.

Performing on the "Mega-Stage" throughout the weekend will be the rock bands Sevendust, Machinehead, Static X and Powerman 5000, among others. Kick-start your taste buds with munchies from the "Hot and Spicy" food festival.

"Born to be Wild" indeed.
