Mustang Ranch defendants ask for new trial

Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999 | 11:03 a.m.

Federal prosecutors claimed Colletti and A.G.E. Enterprises were a front for fugitive brothel boss Joe Conforte, believed hiding in South America. Colletti and the company were convicted earlier this year of racketeering charges.

The motion for a new trial was filed under seal on Tuesday in U.S. District Court.

Colletti lawyer David Houston said the motion addressed what the defense believes were "improprieties" that occurred during the previous trial.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Damm said the filing was anticipated and is an ordinary step in the legal process.
