Letter: Wal-Mart could generate positive business climate

I have composed this on a computer and sent it electronically. The medium to do this could have been stymied, as an example, to protect workers and companies in the typewriter manufacturing and message delivery industries. Instead, look at all the new jobs, new corporations and small businesses that have developed.
Who can tell what progress Wal-Mart might spawn if, for example, Smith's happened to adopt the plan of its sister corporation, Fred Meyer, and add hardware, clothing, and other lines in enlarged facilities to create a gigantic "Vegas Village" with union employees. As an aside, as supermarkets have expanded so have convenience stores proliferated.
