Online broker opening Las Vegas office

Online broker MortgageIT.com will open its first Las Vegas retail outlet next month.

Company spokeswoman Renae Hart said the Las Vegas branch is part of a "national rollout" of retail offices. Included in the company's Western Region will be a Phoenix branch, and a regional processing center in San Jose, Calif. The Las Vegas office will be in the Green Valley area.

Hart said the company chose to open a retail center in Las Vegas because "we looked at the number of housing starts, and the explosive growth in Metropolitan Las Vegas made it a very attractive market for us." The retail branches are viewed by the company as a means of making the on-line mortgage broker more "customer-friendly."

Last year, MortgageIT.com closed in excess of $1.4 billion in loans. The company is a subsidiary of New York-based IPI Financial Services.
