Bus contract awarded by Scenic Airlines
Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999 | 11:24 a.m.
Scenic Airlines signed a contract with a New Jersey company to transport passengers from local hotels to the North Las Vegas airport.
Travelways Inc., Howell, N.J., signed the deal to transport up to 170,000 Scenic passengers annually in four 49-passenger coaches and eight 29-passenger minibuses.
The contract is on a per-passenger basis, but the total amount of the contract was not disclosed.
The Travelways contract was needed because Scenic sold off a bus fleet it owned when it made McCarran International Airport its base of operations in March. The airline returned to North Las Vegas earlier this month.
Scenic flies air tours over the Grand Canyon and to Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley from North Las Vegas Air Terminal.
Travelways entered the Las Vegas market last year when it acquired Adventure Travel and Tours and ProTrav.
Travelways is a major ground transportation provider in resort areas and contracts to airlines, cruise lines, hotels and theme parks.
