Mary L. Bender
Mary L. Bender, 78, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born July 18, 1921, in Quebec. A resident for 20 years, she was a retired seamstress.
She is survived by one son, Joseph Szatan of Vancouver, Wash.; one daughter, Vera Rothmeyer of Las Vegas; two sisters, Louise Hetzmaneder of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Alma of Hull, Quebec; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Marilyn E. Capparelli
Marilyn E. Capparelli, 56, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 17, 1942, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 29 years, she was a specialty chef for the Sands hotel-casino for many years and most recently worked for New York-New York.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph D.; one daughter, Justyne L. Capparelli, two sons, Joseph G. Capparelli and Jonathan R. Capparelli, and her father, George Shumway, all of Las Vegas.
Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
Michelle Diane Davies
Michelle Diane Davies, 11, of Las Vegas died Friday in Beatty. She was born April 25, 1988, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was a sixth grade student at Swainston Middle School.
She is survived by her parents, Dean and Nichole Davies, and one brother, Christopher Davies, all of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Dorothy Chesney of Los Angeles, Barbara Perry, and David and Irene Davies, all of Las Vegas, and Clifford and Ellie Perry of St. George, Utah; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Clarke Cunningham Johnson Jr.
Clarke Cunningham Johnson Jr., 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Chicago. A resident for three years, he was a real estate appraiser, an Army veteran and a member of the Gamesters.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnna; one son, Kenton Johnson, one daughter, Christine Johnson, and one brother, David W. Johnson, all of Chicago; two sisters, Karen F. Crowell of Las Vegas and JoAnne B. Brooks of Woodbridge, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service will be noon Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.
The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.
Glenn Lane
Glenn Lane, 56, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born May 29, 1943, in Illinois. A resident for many years, he was a timekeeper.
He is survived by one brother, Kenneth Lane of Illinois.
No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Illinois. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Emma Nash
Emma Nash, 55, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for 41 years, she was born April 4, 1944, in Tallulah, La.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Smith and Jonny Hudson, both of North Las Vegas, and Victoria Spann of Las Vegas; three sons, David Hudson of Las Vegas and Matthew Young Sr. and Ronnie Hudson Sr., both of North Las Vegas; four brothers, John Thomas of North Las Vegas, Tony Thomas of Las Vegas, and Larry Thomas and Mike Thomas, both of Kansas City, Mo.; seven sisters, Annie May Outland, Shirley Nash, Johnnie Thomas and Georgia Thomas, all of North Las Vegas, and Linda McGilbert, Rebacca Thomas and Eliza Bosley, all of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Greater St. Paul Church of God in Christ, 911 N. G St. Burial will be in Palm Memorial Park.
Robert Nelson
Robert Nelson, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born July 14, 1919, in Mississippi. A resident for 20 years, he was a buoy tender for the U.S. Coast Guard, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Francis Nelson of Las Vegas and James Nelson of California; and one daughter, Roberta Saunders of Boston.
Visitation is scheduled 4-5 p.m. today with a rosary following until 6 p.m. at Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway, are pending. Burial will be in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
Josephine G. Rivera
Josephine G. Rivera, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born April 7, 1920, in Silver City, N.M. A resident for 27 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Robert G. Rivera of Los Angeles and Billy G. Rivera of Las Vegas; one sister, Lupe Leyva of Silver City, N.M.; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling private arrangements.
Ghodsiyeh Rouhani
Ghodsiyeh Rouhani, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Iran. A resident for four years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Mirza-Reza; three sons, Habibollah Rouhani of Iran and Nosrat Rouhani and Behzad Rouhani, both of Las Vegas; five daughters, Afsaneh Rouhani-Moradi, Shahla Rouhani, Mahvash Rouhani-Hajibandeh and Mozhgan Rouhani, all of Las Vegas, and Mozhdeh Rouhani-Mirzai of Iran; and 17 grandchildren.
Graveside services were scheduled at noon today in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.
