Durango senior Chris Kelly, an all-state first baseman, has signed to play baseball at Pepperdine University. Last spring, Kelly batted .488 with 56 RBIs, seven home runs and 16 doubles, helping the Blazers to their first 4A state championship. He also set an American Legion state record with 29 home runs last summer. He is the second local player to sign with Pepperdine this fall, joining Silverado catcher Tommy Rojas.
