Police said the incident began Thursday evening when Steven Jensen and his girlfriend were arguing at a motel across from the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino. The couple had been living at the motel.
Witnesses said Jensen was making violent threats to the woman as he chased her into oncoming traffic.
Police said Jensen may have been drinking.
The victim's name was not released.
Jensen was charged with murder and is on a suicide watch in the Clark County Detention Center.
