No arrests at Reno checkpoint
Friday, Nov. 26, 1999 | 12:18 p.m.
There were no arrests Thanksgiving night at a drunken-driving checkpoint on Kietzke Lane in Reno.
University of Nevada police and the Nevada Highway Patrol conducted the sobriety checkpoint, speaking with drivers of 909 vehicles.
Three were taken aside for additional investigation.
Police said the intent of checkpoints is to raise awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence and not necessarily to make arrests.
Reno police also have extra officers working overtime through Sunday to enforce red-light violations and seat belts or child seats on kids.
