Boys & Girls Clubs members, families enjoy holiday dinner

Friday, Nov. 26, 1999 | 9:07 a.m.

Nearly 300 families whose children attend the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas facilities were treated to Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.

The dinner, held at The Beach, 365 Convention Center Drive, was the organization's 10th annual Turkey Gobble. Fine linens and china were used to create a personal atmosphere.

"It's become a tradition," Debbie Smith, spokeswoman for the Boys & Girls Clubs, said. "A lot of these kids have never been to a restaurant."

The dinner is sponsored by donations from the community and local businesses.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas is a nonprofit association that works to promote leadership, character and educational growth to the valley's disadvantaged youth.
