Residents won't hear any new plans for the future Millennium Arena in North Las Vegas until after the new year.
Millennium Arena Inc. was supposed to appear before the Planning Commission Tuesday night to ask for a year extension on a use permit, but instead asked for a continuance on the request until Jan. 12.
The continuance was granted unanimously by the commissioners.
The Millennium Arena has been bouncing back and forth between the commission and the City Council since 1997, when Millennium Arena Inc. was first granted a permit.
Ground was supposed to be broken in October 1998 on the 12.4-acre site, but construction has yet to begin. According to a letter, Millennium Arena Inc. is nearing a close of financing for the project, which includes a development grant application with the city's Redevelopment Agency.
Tentative plans call for a 60,000-square foot hall with bleacher style seating, and a 160 seat country-style restaurant with limited gaming.
