Wendover and Elko County lawmen are searching for a man wanted in the shooting of Guillermo Cortez in Wendover. Cortez died Saturday morning, eight days after he was wounded.
Cortez, 21, was shot twice in the head with a .25-caliber handgun at a Wendover trailer park and died at a Salt Lake City hospital.
The suspect is described as being a white man in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, 165-170 pounds with dark brown hair. The man had been in Wendover the past three months working odd jobs.
Investigators think the shooting occurred in a dispute over drugs.
Wendover police Chief Richard Weighall said investigators are having problems because there has been a lot of intimidation and people are afraid of the suspect and reluctant to talk to them.
