Viva Gaming & Resorts of Las Vegas said today it entered into its second Indian casino management contract in Canada.
Tuesday's deal calls for Viva, together with Wagon Wheel Resorts, Casinos and Entertainment Inc. of Rockton, Ill., to develop and operate a casino owned by the Roseau River First Nation tribe. The casino will be about 60 miles south of Winnipeg, near the Canada-Minnesota border.
The contract has an initial period of 10 years, with an additional 10-year renewal option. While it is developing a permanent facility, Viva will open a 15,000-square-foot temporary gaming facility within six months.
Earlier this month, Viva announced it had signed a five-year pact with the Onion Lake First Nation tribe to develop and operate a casino located about two hours east of Edmonton. That casino should open in 2000.
