31 students vie for National Merit awards
Thirty-one Clark County students were named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists for 1999-2000. The honor is based on their performance on the Scholastic Aptitude Test, one of the nation's primary college entrance examinations. Those who become finalists qualify for college scholarships.
The students who won the honor are Aaron Kerrigan of the Advanced Technologies Academy; Anna Hargis and Matthew Reynolds of Bonanza High School; Nathan Dahl, Sirui Jiang, Jonathan Kight, Yu Liu, Eric Rowland, Robert Wills and Grace Wu of Clark High School; Joni Burleson and Emily Gubler of Durango High School; Adam Bousum of Eldorado High School; Kristyn Davis, Tondra De, Mariko Jameson, Matthew Rojas and Brian Wall of Green Valley High School; Zoe Coburn, Benjamin Laussade and William Wolfs of Las Vegas Academy; Jeremy Foote and Joanna Milius of Silverado High School; Anthony Brillhart of Valley High School; Emily Methangkool, Matthew Parsons, Erin Stanki and James Valpiani of Bishop Gorman High School; and Yau Chin, Lindsey Horvath and Carlos Rojas of the Meadows School.
Murdered woman's children will benefit
A trust fund for the children of Harriet Jennings-Chapin has been established at Bank of America.
Jennings-Chapin, 42, was shot and killed on Nov. 15 at the Warren Motel Apartments, 3965 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
Jennings-Chapin, had three children who will benefit from the fund. The account number is 004961653327, and has been placed in the trust of Jennings-Chapin's sister, Lydia Joffrion.
Congregation will move to St. Andrew's
Temple Bet Emet, the House of Truth, will be moving to Saint Andrew's Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd.
The community is invited to attend the first service in its new location at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3. The first Hanukkah candle will be lit. Cantorial soloist Abbott Mosher will lead the congregation in prayer.

Margaret Rose center expands
Margaret Rose Assisted Living center has expanded its facility to include apartments for senior independent living.
The 19 units are located near enough to the full-service amenities of Margaret Rose that residents will be able to take their meals in the main dining room.

Immunizations
Health District immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 36 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Nov. 24 - 30:
