Man holds girlfriend hostage in Laughlin apartment for 6 hours
Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999 | 11:33 a.m.
According to witnesses, the man dragged his live-in girlfriend back into their Laughlin apartment when she tried to leave early Thursday morning. Metro Lt. Ed Pitchford identified the suspect as Mark Bryant Thompson.
Police officers called in the SWAT team when Thompson would not answer the door or the phone and after seeing similar domestic violence offenses on his record.
Just after 7 a.m. negotiators, using a bullhorn, were finally able to convince Thompson to surrender.
Police say Thompson was on house arrest for a similar crime. No weapons were found in the apartment and there were no injuries.
