Reno police spotted Carlos Herrera, 40, in the tree after his watch alarm started beeping at 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Up until then, Herrera had avoided a manhunt and a helicopter spotlight search by climbing the big tree in an old southwest Reno neighborhood.
"After two hours of searching, an officer heard a beeping alarm," Reno Deputy Police Chief Jim Weston said.
"Another officer started going up the tree with a flashlight and saw the guy's foot."
Herrera of Vallejo, Calf., has been charged in a robbery at a 7-Eleven store in Reno Tuesday night. He may have been involved in as many as three other armed robberies in Reno that night, police said.
He has served time in California for armed robbery and is wanted their for a parole violation.
