* LAKE MEAD -- Anglers competing in largemouth bass and striped bass fishing tournaments over the weekend caught and released large numbers of fish. Members of Silver State Bass Club found largemouth bass in shallow water in coves. Competitors reported that jigs appeared to be the better bait for catching the fish. Nevada Striper Club members had good success for stripers and were finding the fish from the lake's surface to depths of 100 feet. Most of the action was taking place at Sand Island and Las Vegas Wash. Other areas of the lake where anglers have found recent action for stripers include the Virgin Bowl and Bonelli Bay. Poor fishing has been reported at Hemenway Harbor and Government Wash.
* LAKE MOHAVE -- Rainbow trout fishing has been good for boaters and shore anglers in the Willow Beach area due to recent plants. Striped bass that weighed 26 and 23 pounds were caught above Willow Beach last week. The Nevada Division of Wildlife stocked rainbow trout at Cottonwood Cove on Monday and Hoover Dam and Placer Cove on Tuesday and Powerline Cove on Wednesday. Small stripers have been caught recently at Cottonwood East in Cottonwood Basin by boaters who are trolling anchovies with lead line. Stripers in that area generally range in size from one to three pounds.
