District Court Judges Brent Adams of Reno, Jerry Sullivan of Winnemucca and Michael Douglas of Las Vegas imposed the sentence Monday on Brian Lee Allen, who pleaded guilty in the April 1998 murder of Kimberly Fondy, 33.
His two co-defendants in the case, Pedro Rodriguez, 20, and Robert Paul Servin, 17, were sentenced to death Oct. 20 after a Washoe District Court jury found them guilty.
Allen testified against them during the trial, saying they broke into Fondy's house in hopes of robbing her of about $35,000. After the killing, they split about $80 taken from her, he testified.
Defense lawyer Jenny Hubach argued Allen should not be given the death penalty because of his youth and remorse. Allan is borderline mentally retarded with an IQ of 73, she added.
