Rebels hit links with President

WASHINGTON -- President Bill Clinton and the UNLV golf team finally hit the links together today -- a year and a half after Clinton invited the team to the nation's capital.
Clinton had asked the team to join him for a round of golf after UNLV won the NCAA championship title in June 1998, but Clinton had to delay the round because of official business.
"It's not every day you get to meet the President and play golf with him," said senior Jeremy Anderson. Anderson and junior Scott Lander were on the 1998 team. They joined teammates freshman Calvin Cupeyan, senior Michael Kirk and sophomore Adam Scott on the trip to Washington this weekend.
The athletes and coach Dwaine Knight met Clinton in the Oval Office for a brief photo session early this morning before heading off to Army-Navy Country Club in Arlington, Va. Knight presented Clinton with UNLV gear, including a golf bag, saying, "In case you ever carry your bags."
Clinton joked, "Won't be too long before I have to carry everything."
