Letter: Nave pegged half wrong

Friday, Nov. 5, 1999 | 11:03 a.m.

We were appalled to read Ron Kantowski's depiction of Dr. Jim Nave as the "good, humorless man" in his Oct. 28 column.

Well, Ron, at least you were half right. Dr. Nave is good. You will never know the amount of good he has done in his quiet, unassuming way.

But humorless? Not so! He has a subtle, Southern lovely sense of humor. Maybe you can't recognize it, but it is there.

He has spent 12 years of his life trying to keep boxing on a higher plane. This has involved making some very courageous decisions for which he should be applauded. Perhaps dealing with the likes of Mike Tyson has left him little to laugh about.

If there were more good people like our good friend Dr. Nave, the world would be a much better place.
