Boy, 5, struck by father’s truck

A 5-year-old Las Vegas boy is in critical condition at University Medical Center after being hit by a truck driven by his father Thursday afternoon.

The accident took place shortly before 3 p.m. in an apartment complex in the 4300 block of South Bruce Street.

Investigators say the child, Marlon Pineda, may have been running to meet his father, Raphael Pineda, when he was run over.

According to police the elder Pineda was pulling his 1984 Ford pickup into a parking stall when the child ran up to the truck.
