Letter: Hunters some of the finest folk you’ll ever meet

Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999 | 9:27 a.m.

There is no connection between hunting and violence towards people. On the contrary, experience has shown that kids who hunt with their families have a better understanding of the value of life.

They understand that something must die in order for us to live. Even vegetables were alive once.

It has always been my belief, if more kids enjoyed the pleasures of hunting, we would have less violent children.

My kids are not violent and they have experienced hunting at its finest (although they have yet to experience a kill). There is far more to hunting than killing, and they understand that.

I get tired of hearing these people, in denial, calling hunting cruel to animals, while they chomp down that hamburger or wear their leather shoes.

One trip to a slaughterhouse, followed by a hunting trip with me, will show these people which is really closer to cruel.

I regularly pass up shots, and go home empty-handed, because the shot will not result in a quick, clean kill. I personally am a bowhunter and am active in Nevada hunting organizations.

I know many hunters throughout this country and have yet to find a better, more ethical group of people.

Wake up Ms. LaRocca.
