Court computers get help for changeover

Judge Brent Adams and an administrator with the Nevada Supreme Court said the situation is not as critical as it might appear.

The new computer system that tracks cases is to begin operation Jan. 1, though some question whether it will be ready by then.

Officials said the biggest obstacle is the amount of time it will take to transfer information on existing cases into the new system. Each must be entered individually.

But officials added that while the program might not be fully functional at the first of the year, information will still be available the old fashioned way - on paper.
