Burglar had large ATM card
Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999 | 11:01 a.m.
A man apparently tried to make a rather large withdrawal from the Nevada Federal Credit Union automated teller kiosk at Bonanza Road and Nellis Boulevard early today.
But instead of sticking a bank card into the proper slot of the machine, he tried to use a construction front-end-loader to plow through the small building in what police believe was an attempt to get the cash. It didn't work, Metro Police said.
Shortly before 2 a.m., a man drove the front-end-loader into the ATM building, breaking off three reinforced barrier pipes, but he did not get into the ATM to get any money, police said.
After being spotted by witnesses, the man drove off in the construction machinery, down Bonanza, turning east on Harris Street. Police later recovered the front-end-loader in that area. The burglar remains at large.
