Las Vegas area fishing reports

Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999 | 10:22 a.m.

LAKE MEAD: Anglers have been finding mixed results for striped bass with the action reported to be good in isolated locations, but the overall success has been disappointing.

Nevada Division of Wildlife game warden Dennis Roden spent two days drifting anchovies in the Virgin Bowl late last week. He and his two companions caught and released more than 100 stripers. He said the fish that were 12-14 inches were healthy, but fish that ranged from 17-20 inches were skinny due to a lack of forage.

LAKE MOHAVE: Boaters who are trolling with anchovies are catching striped bass on the Arizona side of Cottonwood Basin approximately 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 miles downlake from Cottonwood Cove. Stripers coming in from that part of the lake range from 12-18 inches.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: Fair action for rainbow and brown trout can be found at the lake.
