Hillerby will replace Erquiaga in arts position

Monday, Nov. 1, 1999 | 9:55 a.m.

Michael Hillerby, a chorus member and performer with the Nevada Opera for the last 15 seasons, replaces Dale Erquiaga, who resigned this summer after serving only several months.

"(Hillerby) has a wealth of knowledge and a great passion for the arts and culture, as well as a familiarity with the inner workings of state government," Gov. Kenny Guinn said in announcing his appointment.

Hillerby, who had been serving as arts and culture manager for the city of Reno, assumes his new post Nov. 29.

"The preservation of Nevada's cultural and artistic history is something very important to me," he said.
