Fire officials say the candle was on a night stand when it ignited bedding material, then spread through four wings of the legal Lyon County brothel.
Officials say the lack of hydrants hampered firefighting efforts and contributed to the spread of the blaze throughout the building.
The brothel was constructed of several prefabricated units linked together.
Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Prostitutes at the bordello were moved to the nearby Kit Kat and Kitty's brothels.
