Bones found in southwest Reno may be those of missing man

Monday, Nov. 1, 1999 | 9:49 a.m.

An examination of the bones was scheduled today. Officers were also trying to contact the man's relatives before releasing his identity.

The man was despondent and suicidal when he disappeared two years ago, Reno police Detective Jim Stegmaier said.

Two brothers, ages 12 and 14, discovered a portion of a human leg on Saturday in steep, dense terrain near Cashill Drive and Skyline Boulevard.

Authorities used dogs to search the area over the weekend and found additional remains, clothing and a wallet with identification.
