Memorial day business schedule

Memorial Day, first observed on May 30, 1868, initially was called Decoration Day because Southerners decorated the graves of the Confederate dead. It is now observed on the last Monday in May. Here's what's open and closed locally on Memorial Day:
SAFETY: Police and fire emergency services as usual. Administrative offices closed.
UTILITIES: Closed: Sprint, Southwest Gas Corp., Nevada Power Co., Las Vegas Valley Water District, Cox Cable.
GOVERNMENT: Closed: Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, North Las Vegas, Clark County, state, courts, federal offices, federal courthouse.
SCHOOLS: Closed, no classes: Clark County public schools, Community College of Southern Nevada, UNLV.
MAIL: Closed, no deliveries: United Parcel Service, U.S. Postal Service. (Post Office Express outlets in Lucky supermarkets will be open.)
NEWSPAPER: Sun published jointly with Review-Journal and delivered in the morning. Sun offices closed.
TRANSIT: Downtown Transportation Center: open. City Trolleys: holiday schedule (one trolley in operation). Citizen Area Transit: buses on holiday/weekend schedule (fewer buses on fixed routes).
LIBRARIES: Closed: Las Vegas-Clark County District, Henderson District, North Las Vegas District, Boulder City Municipal.
GARBAGE: Silver State Disposal pickups as usual, offices closed.
MATRIMONY: Marriage License Bureau open 24 hours, starting 8 a.m. Friday, closing midnight Tuesday.
FINANCES: Closed: banks, brokerage firms.
ZOO: Open: Southern Nevada Zoological Park and Botanical Garden.
PARKING: Free parking in metered spaces.
