Obituaries for May 27, 1999

Paul U. Beard, 84, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 6, 1915, in Hoisington, Kan. A resident for eight years, he was a retired federal civil servant, Navy veteran and member of the Elks.

He is survived by one neice, Joyce Riebel of Las Vegas.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Norman A. Brozynski

Norman A. Brozynski, 58, of Henderson died May 16 in Henderson. He was born April 23, 1941, in Chicago. A resident for six years, he was a retired Chicago police officer/detective and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two sons, Jason Brozynski of Washington, D.C., and Blair Brozynski of Chicago; two sisters, Eileen Jenkins of Crete, Ill., and Virginia Payovich of Chicago; one brother, Dennis Brozynski of Evanston, Ill.; and four grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be private. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

D.T. 'Bill' Cromeenes

D.T. "Bill" Cromeenes, 78, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Paris, Texas. A resident for 24 years, he was a dealer and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; three daughters, Debbie Poole, Robin Greco and Becky Jeffery, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Harold Cromeenes of Porterville, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be 6 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 S. Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV 89119.

Bertha Devish

Bertha Devish, 92, of Las Vegas, died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Dec. 10, 1906, in Carlock, S.D. A resident for 12 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna Czerwinski of Las Vegas; one sister, Mildred Longcor of South Dakota; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St. Burial will be private.

The family requests donations be made to charity.

Marilyn Joyce Henry

Marilyn Joyce Henry, 62, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1936, in Texas. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Joel Simpson; one daughter, Joyce; one brother, John Holbrook; three sisters, Jerri Otwell, Micki Thompson and Billie; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Rene L. Herrera

Rene L. Herrera, 19, of Las Vegas, died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 20, 1979, in Mexico. A resident of four years, he was a cook.

He is survived by his parents, Florencio and Celia; two brothers, Santos and Florencio; and one sister, Magda.

Charles Atherton Leet

Charles Atherton Leet, 67, of Henderson, died Tuesday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Owensboro, Ky. A resident for three years, he was a retired computer field engineer and a Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Charles Leet, of Palmer, Ark., and Richard Leet, of Westminster, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Cemetery.

Arlys A. "Clancy" Lyons

Arlys A. "Clancy" Lyons, 58, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born May 25, 1941, in Ainsworth, Neb. A resident for 25 years, she was a teacher.

She is survived by one daughter, Beverly Sharp, of Las Vegas; one brother, Allen Athey of San Diego; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements are being handled by Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Jason Allan Mann

Jason Allan Mann, 22, of Las Vegas, died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 11, 1976, in Wisconsin. A resident for 19 years, he was a painter.

He is survived by one son, Jason Mann-Parker; his parents, Richard and Kathryn; one brother, Richard Mann; and two sisters, Amy Snider and Steffany Kirchner.

Services were scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today in Apostolic Church, 1665 Lindell Road.

Violette Mae Merino

Violette Mae Merino, 75, of Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Chicago. A resident for 17 years, she was a county government eligibility worker and a member of the Dula Bridge Club.

She is survived by one son, Zachary Dee Meakim.

Gladys M. Sims

Gladys M. Sims, 80, of Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born July 10, 1918, in Missouri. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Sims of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Joseph Sims of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be private. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Steve (Day) Zabawsky

Steve (Day) Zabawsky, 83, of Las Vegas, died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 10, 1916, in Webster, Pa. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired owner of the Bell, Book and Candle Shop, a World War II Air Force veteran, an accomplished tap and ballet dancer and longtime performer for the USO.

He is survived by one sister, Anna Serbak, and one brother, Samuel Zabawsky, both of Pennsylvania.

No local services are scheduled. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
