More Yucca hearings set

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has scheduled three more public meetings on its proposed radiation limit for a proposed nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain after a storm of criticism from Nevadans at earlier hearings.
The commission was criticized during meetings held in March for setting a limit of 25 millirems a year -- about the amount of a single chest X-ray -- for a proposed high-level nuclear waste repository 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
The new series of meetings with public discussion are:
* June 15, 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Amargosa Valley Community Center in Amargosa Valley.
* June 16, 7 to 9:30 p.m. at UNLV's Richard Tam Alumni Center.
* June 17, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Caliente City Hall.
The written public comment period ends June 30.
