LV mayor joins board of expanding health firm

Consolidated Medical Management Inc. today announced the appointment of Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones to its board of directors.
Consolidated Medical (CMMI) is the Baton Rouge, La., company that this month announced the purchase of two Las Vegas medical companies founded by Jack London.
Consolidated is buying London's Nevada Resort Medical Services and Practice Management Group of Nevada. The two are expected to bring $2 million in new annual revenue to Consolidated, with Nevada Resort Medical Services alone bringing in $1.5 million.
The combined companies employ 50, with annual revenues of $3.5 million. The deal is expected to close within 45 days. The company's corporate headquarters will be relocated to Las Vegas, and London will become chairman and chief operating officer.
Nevada Resort Medical Services is a tourist-oriented extended hours urgent care clinic in the Imperial Palace hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. The clinic, open seven days per week, also serves Imperial Palace workers and their families.
Expanding that successful business to other resorts is the next big focus for the company. Consolidated Medical is eyeing expansion to Mexico, Hawaii, Biloxi, Miss.; and Atlantic City, N.J. The mayor's connections in the resort business will help make that a reality, London said.
"We feel adding her to the board will add recognition locally, nationally and internationally, particularly in the resort area," London said. "We're thrilled to have her on the board, and we're excited for the future."
London said his practice management company provides ongoing business consulting services to about 120 physicians in Nevada, Utah, California and Arizona. The merger will bring Consolidated Medical's mobile diagnostics services to London's Las Vegas operations. Consolidated Medical and the London companies also plan to expand into the business of outpatient psychiatric care as part of the deal, London said.
In addition, Consolidated Medical is looking to break into the cosmetic surgery business. London said CMMI is in discussions with a Strip resort to open a cosmetic surgery clinic within six months.
Also today, CMMI said it's answering a request for proposal from the city of Mesquite to manage a 19,000-square-foot medical facility.
And CMMI said Practice Management Group is in negotiation with other physician groups in Las Vegas to provide management and marketing services.
